Opting-out of the General Practice Data for Planning and Research Programme (GPDPR).
The data held in patients’ GP medical records is shared with other healthcare professionals for the purposes of a patient’s individual care and also shared with other organisations to support health and care planning and research. Under the above programme the first extraction of data was to have taken place on 1 July 2021, but this has now been postponed until 1 September 2021 to allow more time for the government and NHS Digital to explain to patients what is involved and to listen to their concerns.
Patients who do not want their personally identifiable data to be shared outside a GP practice for purposes other than their own care can register an Opt -out with their GP practice. This is known as a Type 1 Opt-out.
To register a Type 1 Opt-out, for yourself or for a dependent (if you are the parent or legal guardian of the patient), please download and compete the form from the link below and return it to the surgery as soon as possible
